Introducing Tilley Wade Bamboo – A Ouachita Mountain story

Hey there, fellow plant lovers and privacy fence seekers! 🌿

Today, I’m thrilled to share something incredibly close to my heart—and, as always, it’s rooted deep in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do since moving back and now I’m actually giving it a shot. Allow me to introduce you to Tilley Wade Bamboo, where our beloved Red Margin Bamboo came from a love of nature, growing plants and building your own vibe and magical getaway at your home.

This isn’t just any bamboo farm, and it’s not just any bamboo. Our farm is really more of a grove on our land and a tribute to my Uncle Jeff, a true gentleman who first planted these vibrant shoots right here. My grandad and Uncle Jeff both had a passion for this bit of land and its natural beauty. They curated nearly every plant here and definitely influenced the way I look at them. My papa and uncle Jeff both gathered plants from all around this area as they worked for the county road service and brought them home to grow from cuttings and rhizomes. Their legacy lives on in every plant and new bamboo shoot that stretches towards the sky, carrying their love for building their own vibe forward and really making the place look great while they were at it. I feel like they are still here in spirit looking out for the place and keeping me from all the ways I try to accidentally kill myself while working on things. Haha.

We started a bamboo “farm” not just to sell bamboo but to share a little of them with the world now that they are gone. It isn’t just about growing plants; it’s about growing their stories. This is a place where history, family, and community intertwine. My granny, a genealogist, would love that about this endeavor. She loved that her husband and son treasured this place and wanted to make it look like a mystical land that you would find on a quest. The Red Margin Bamboo we cultivate isn’t just a pretty plant (though it is stunning, with its rich green leaves and distinctive red margins). It’s a piece of our family’s story, and now, we’re inviting you to make it part of yours.

And here’s where things get even better—I’m not doing this alone. I’ve been lucky enough to partner with my good friend, Colby Wade, who’s as passionate about this project as I am. Colby is another gentleman who loves all things plants and nature. He has lived here in his airstream two times now and has come to love this place and all of my weird family stories. He is an IT whiz by day, bamboo farmer by evening, and an all-around wonderful human. If you’re local and need some IT magic, Colby’s currently accepting new clients. He provides services like:

shoot him an email at colbywade1812@gmail.com and he’ll get you sorted out in no time.

Why Red Margin Bamboo?

This bamboo isn’t just any run-of-the-mill plant. It’s hardy, fast-growing, and absolutely perfect for creating natural privacy screens or adding an exotic flair to your garden. It was picked for this place to provide a bit of a barrier between us and the property behind us. Plus, every stalk carries with it the sentimental story of a family that just really loved plants and creating spaces to feel great in. As a customer, I love stuff like that. I love knowing that something I bought is deeper than just having a thing. The story is what drew Colby and I to selling bamboo so others to create spaces of their own.

Supporting Tilley Wade Bamboo means more than just buying bamboo. You’re supporting a local legacy, a story of family, and the spirit of the Ouachitas. Plus, you’re getting a plant that’s sustainable, beautiful, and strong—just like the humans who inspired us.

So, here’s to Papa, Uncle Jeff, to Colby, and to all of you who are making this journey with us. Let’s grow something beautiful together. 🌱
